A is for Acceptance

Description

After several centuries Sekhmet accepted that she was dead and that there was no way she would return to her old life. But there was one other thing she needed to accept.

Sekhmet looked uneasily at the graves around her, she could feel the peaceful souls around her and their curiosity of an old spirit being near them. The female Yamask wasn't sure why she accepted to go along with Elizabeth and Vena to visit the Summers graves. But here she was in a quiet green cemetery following the newly evolved Vena and Elizabeth as they moved to the smooth white headstone that laid before them. While Gawain walked next to her though he seemed to sense her unease.

"Ye alright Sekmet?" he asked as he looked at her with concerned yellow eyes.

Sekhmet stiffened up but nodded, she didn't trust her voice for it would signal her distress.

The young Turtwig lifted a ark brown brow at this as Vena and Elizabeth paused to look at their spirit companion.

"You sure Sekhmet?" Elizabeth asked as she furrowed her brow in worry, "You don't have to come with us to my grandparents grave." She said as her light blue eyes looked into Sekmet's red eyes.

"Yes I am fine!" She snapped at them Vena and Gawain jumped at this but Elizabeth didn't look miffed from the action, she merely looked at the anxious spirit, "Please." Sekhmet said sighing as she rubbed her forehead, "Do not worry about me." She said not looking at anyone.

Vena and Gawain moved away from the spirit while Elizabeth moved forward and rested a hand on the white robe that covered Sekhmet's shoulder, "We worry because you are our friend, but I won't push you if you do not wish to speak about it." Elizabeth said smiling gently.

Sekhmet slowly relaxed and felt bad for snapping at them, "Thank you Elizabeth." She said and she felt her respect grow for the young woman and she gestured for Elizabeth to go over where Vena was.

Elizabeth smiled and patted the yamask's shoulder before going over and telling the headstones about her time since her last visit.

Sekhmet tuned it out as she felt her white priestess robes hid her body. Until she felt someone tug her robe and she found herself looking into Elizabeth's eyes, "...Yes?"

"Is there anyone you wish to send a message too?" She asked asked the yamask startling Sekhmet.

"What?! NO!" She yelled as she retreated but in her red eyes there was guilt.

"There is someone isn't there?" Elizabeth asked as the Yamask flinched.

"...yes." She said quietly as she looked at the ground, "my younger sister Anippe."

Elizabeth reached out to Sekhmet again and lightly touched the yamask's shoulder then she quietly guided Sekhmet to her grandparents graves, "I am sure she misses you Sekhmet."

Sekmet shoulders shook at that as she looked at the graves, trying to keep in her guilt, pain and sadness, "I didn't see her." She admitted with a strained voice.

Elizabeth tilted her head as she gently moved Sekhmet to sit before the graves, "Your sister?"

"No." Sekhmet said her voice cracking as tears lined her eyes, "I wanted to say how sorry I was for what happened that day."

Elizabeth gently rubbed the yamask's shoulder, "I think she will be able to hear you Sekhmet, she doesn't have to be there for to hear you." She said as she moved Gawain and Vena back to give Sekhmet her privacy.

Sekhmet stared at the polished white marble before her, her shoulders shaking as she tried not to break down. All her life she was the proud one, one that never cried about anything but...her wonderful little Anippe.

"Oh...Anippe...I'm so sorry." She said breaking down as she bowed her head and felt warm tears trail down her cheeks, "I should have never left you alone near the river..." She sobbed as she left the dam down and cried her heart out (So to speak), "I know you didn't know how to swim but I was distracted by the priests. But...but that splash..." She choked as she violently shook her head, sending her white hair flying around her head as the little mask on her head cried as well, "I didn't reach you in time...I didn't save you...you died so young...it was all my fault!" She cried and lifted her head to the heavens as she sobbed, "Anippe if you can hear me please forgive me!" She cried mournfully closing her red eyes before she put her face into her hands and cried.

Vena and Gawain's eyes prickled with tears as they heard Sekhmet's plea while Elizabeth's eyes softened with sadness.

Once Sekhmet had finished crying she wiped her face then felt a lightness in her being like her sister had heard her and had forgive her. She closed her eyes and she gave a faint smile and she looked back up at the sky.

"Thank you Anipe, may God be between you and harm in all the empty places where you must walk." She said giving a quiet blessing to her sister who lay in the Field of Rushes before she got up and joined the others.

Boy that was long but I also pulled this out of nowhere so I hope this is alright. ^^; )
